The first ever International Conference on Hmong Studies takes place March 10-11 in St. Paul. Academics from around the world are coming to Concordia University to talk about a culture undergoing dramatic transition. Session topics include Hmong language, the effects of globalization, and even health issues.
The location is appropriate because St. Paul has the largest Hmong population of any city in the United States.
Professor Lee Pao Xiong directs Concordia University's Center for Hmong Studies. He talked to Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Crann about the event.
