Bonny Wolf says she remembers most life events by what she ate. In her new book of essays, "Talking with My Mouth Full: Crab Cakes, Bundt Cakes and Other Kitchen Stories," Wolf connects Jell-O salads, roast chickens and Nut Goodies with life's special moments.

Most of us will be creating our own special moments as we gather around the Thanksgiving table later this week.

Wolf, who grew up in Minneapolis, is a commentator for NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday, She is also editor of Kitchen Window, NPR's Web-only, weekly food column.

Her book includes recipes collected from family and friends, and essays about the foods of her childhood. She spoke with MPR's Greta Cunningham.
