Jets soar, Vikings crash
Now that their playoff chances are nearly extinguished, the greatest drama in the the Vikings' last couple of games this year may involve their quarterback situation.
Veteran starter Brad Johnson threw a touchdown pass just two minutes into the game but struggled through the rest of the first half and was roundly booed by the home fans in the Metrodome.
Rookie Tarvaris Jackson took Johnson's place in the third quarter and was greeted with a standing ovation.
Jackson threw the first touchdown pass of his pro career in the fourth quarter, but it was too late for the Vikings to overcome the 26 points they allowed New York. The Jets passed for nearly 340 yards -- a career-high for their quarterback, Chad Pennington.
Vikings coach Brad Childress was non-commital about who will start at quarterback for the Vikings in their next game, which is Thursday night in Green Bay. Both the Vikings and Packers have six wins and eight losses on the season.
