The Minneapolis Veterans Home is currently paying $1850 a day in fines to the state.

The fines, which took effect over a week ago, are for violations discovered by the Minnesota Department of Health upon inspections last November and, more recently, in February.

Some of the violations include problems related to preventing and treating skin ulcers and medication errors.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with State Health Commissioner Dianne Mandernach about the issues facing the Minneapolis Veterans Home.
