Victims of violence

There have been some disturbing incidents in the news of late involving the cruel deaths of animals.

There was the story that made national news of the young St. Paul girl who found the head of her missing dog in a gift-wrapped package. A man who had a romantic interest in the young woman has been charged in the case. Another St. Paul man was found guilty last year of snapping the necks of puppies after having an argument with his girlfriend.

Against that backdrop, there is a conference in the Twin Cities on the link between animal abuse and domestic violence. MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with Phil Arkow of the American Humane Association.
