Lack of funding closes World Press Institute

A Twin Cities program that has given more than 500 foreign journalists perspective about American media is shutting down. The World Press Institute has announced it has lost most of its outside funding and it will have to lay off its entire staff.

Reader's Digest founder DeWitt Wallace set up the WPI at Macalester College during the Cold War to give journalists from other countries a look at American media practices and a free press.

All Things Considered host Tom Crann talked with freelance journalist David Brauer about the institute.
