The ABCs of hepatitis

The Pizza Ranch in Slayton, Minnesota, is back open this week, even as one person remains hospitalized with hepatitis A connected to the restaurant.

There are four confirmed cases of hepatitis in Slayton -- three among Pizza Ranch employees and one in a patron of the restaurant.

Over the weekend, nearly 2,300 customers and restaurant employees who may have been exposed took part in an immunization clinic in the southwestern Minnesota town. The source of the infection is still under investigation.

MPR's Steven John talks with medical analyst Dr. Jon Hallberg about what hepatitis is and how to guard against it.
