It's the 60th anniversary of India's independence from Britain. In a recent speech at the Chautauqua Institution in New York, Richard Celeste discussed the changes he's seen in India's democracy.

Celeste is in a unique position to do so. He served as special assistant to the U.S. ambassador to India in 1967. Thirty years later, he returned to India as U.S. ambassador.
