Minnesota Little Leaguers head to the World Series

The Little League World Series gets underway Friday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and one of the 16 teams competing in the tournament is from Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Those 9- to-12-year-old boys will be competing on a big stage. The event draws thousands of fans and the games will also be seen by a national television audience on ESPN.

The team's first game in the round robin phase of the Little League World Series is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. against a squad from Lubbock, Texas.

MPR's Jim Bickal visited with the team this week before they left for Williamsport.

He talked with Tanner Lowe, a pitcher and infielder for the team, and coach Mark Lowe.
