Melanie Bloom, left, and Lee Woodruff each suffered loss when their TV journalist husbands went to Iraq. Bloom's husband David died of a blood clot, and Woodruff's husband Bob was severely injured in a bomb attack.

Lee Woodruff is the wife of Bob Woodruff, an ABC News television journalist who was nearly killed by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq in 2006.

Melanie Bloom is the widow of David Bloom, an NBC anchor who died outside of Baghdad in 2003. Bloom was embedded with the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq and died of pulminory embolism caused by deep vein thrombosis.
