3M to cut 141 jobs

Maplewood-based 3M is cutting 63 jobs in its display and graphics business to reduce costs. The job cuts will come in the Twin Cities and Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Rival manufacturers have been cutting prices for competing optical film products, eroding 3M's profits in that area.

3M is also cutting 78 jobs in its projection systems operations in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The company says affected employees can seek other jobs within 3M. If they don't find jobs, they'll be let go. But the company says they will receive severance pay and job placement help. 3M employs about 35,000 workers in the U.S. and 75,000 worldwide.
