Minneapolis begins planning for the next two decades

We're just getting used to the year 2008, and city of Minneapolis is focusing on the year 2030.

The city is working on a strategic plan for the its long-term growth -- envisioning how the city should look and function as it approaches the middle of the century.

City planners have a draft of that plan -- they call it a "plan for sustainable growth." And starting tonight, they want input from citizens.

The city will hold five open houses, beginning Tuesday evening at North Regional Library.

Karin Berkholtz is the community planning supervisor for the City of Minneapolis. She joined Tom Crann to discuss the plan and what specific goals Minneapolis has for future development.
