Gov. Tim Pawlenty is in Michigan this weekend to campaign on behalf of presidential hopeful John McCain.

Gov. Pawlenty will appear at several of McCain's town hall meetings on Saturday and Sunday. Gov. Pawlenty, who co-chairs McCain's presidential committee, also spoke on the Arizona Senator's behalf at a Republican dinner in Flint, Mich. He told the audience on Friday night that McCain is the best suited to lead the country.

"He's an individual beyond the obvious character traits that has been a common sense conservative for our country," Pawlenty told the group. "You probably don't agree with every candidate on everything but if you look at his record as a whole, he is a conservative that can also win the election."

Michigan's primary is this Tuesday, and McCain is hoping to win the state like he did during his unsuccessful presidential run in 2000.

This is Pawlenty's third trip to Michigan of McCain's behalf. He has also made stops in Iowa and New Hampshire for the Arizona senator.
