Former SLA member Sara Jane Olson released from Calif prison
Former Symbionese Liberation Army radical Sara Jane Olson has been released from a California prison after serving time for trying to bomb police cars in Los Angeles in 1975.
Olson, formerly known as Kathleen Soliah, vanished soon after being charged with the attempted bombings. She was also wanted in the death of a bank customer during a 1975 robbery.
When she was captured 24 years later in Minnesota, she had changed her name and was living as a St. Paul housewife with a husband and three daughters.
In 2001, Olson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The Los Angeles police union is protesting her early release.
The urban guerrilla group, SLA, is best known for having kidnapped newspaper heiress Patty Hearst.
