Cub Foods says it is prepared to add some extra kick to customers' tax refund checks.

The grocery stores' offer also includes the economic stimulus checks taxpayers will soon receive.

Cub will redeem the checks for store gift cards in $300 increments, and add $30 to the value of each card. The offer is good from May 2 through July 31 at Cub's 56 Twin Cities stores.

Redemptions are capped at $1,200 per household. The gift cards cannot be used to buy alcohol, lottery tickets, or tobacco products.
