Auditor weighs in on complaints about AG
Minnesota's legislative auditor is set to weigh in on allegations of misconduct against Attorney General Lori Swanson.
The office of Auditor James Nobles says he will release a preliminary assessment in a letter to a legislative panel on Tuesday morning.
The review from Nobles aims to determine whether a deeper investigation is warranted.
Swanson and some of her top aides have been accused of pressuring attorneys to find defendants to fit high-profile lawsuits, give bad advice to state agencies and post positive comments about the office while on duty.
Swanson has denied the allegations.
Last week, she fired an assistant attorney general who made some of the accusations after a review commissioned by her office discredited the employee's claims about lawsuits relating to mortgage foreclosures.
