Author N.M. Kelby has done a lot in her life. During the 20 years she lived in the Twin Cities she was a performer, a writer and even a TV reporter.

She moved to Florida a few years ago and became a novelist. Now she writes mysteries set in small Florida towns filled with strange characters.

She says her latest novel, "Murder at the Bad Girl's Bar and Grill," is quite autobiographical.

She told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr one of the characters called Danni Keane is based on experiences she had making a horror movie in Minneapolis.
