SD soldier dies from explosion

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls soldier has died of wounds he suffered in Afghanistan.

The governor's office said Army Specialist Estell Turner died Wednesday at the National Naval Medical Center in Maryland. He was wounded June 28 when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Malikheyl, Afghanistan.

The 43-year-old Turner was a motor transport operator assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He entered the Army in May 2004 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June 2007.
