(AP) - The Stillwater Lift Bridge will be closed next week for repairs.

The historic bridge over the St. Croix River was damaged earlier this week when a lumber delivery truck got stuck on it.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the bridge will close to traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week, starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 16. The bridge will reopen temporarily at 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, for Stillwater's annual Lumberjack Days.

Beginning early Monday, July 28, the bridge again will be closed until repairs are completed in early August.

During the closures, traffic will be detoured south to the Interstate 94 bridge at Hudson, Wisconsin.

The bridge's lift span will remain operational during repairs so boats can pass underneath.
