St. Paul police are investigating the death of a man after a night of heavy drinking near Hamline University.

Police spokesman Peter Panos says Peter Sand, 21, of Zumbrota, was in St. Paul to celebrate his cousin's birthday. He was found dead Tuesday morning in the living room of the cousin's home.

"They'd gone out to a local bar -- a couple of local bars -- and come home. He went to sleep on the floor of the house, and when they got up they found him non-responsive," he said.

Panos says police are still awaiting a coroner's report but he doesn't expect charges to be filed in the case. He says everyone involved is of legal drinking age.

Last month, an Associated Press review found six alcohol poisoning deaths of college-age people in Minnesota between 1999 and 2005. Four young people died after heavy drinking in Minnesota this past winter.
