Two teens charged in Lake Phalen attack

Two juveniles have been charged in connection with Monday night's baseball bat attack against a couple near Lake Phalen in St. Paul.

The Ramsey County Attorney's office has charged Wang Moua Vue, 16, of Brooklyn Park, with assault and committing a crime benefitting a gang. The charge alleges Vue attacked a man and woman with an aluminum bat while the victims were walking on a path by the lake.

Saddam Chex Vang, 17, has been charged with third degree riot. The county attorney's office says both juveniles claim to be members of the Asian Crips, and had gone to Lake Phalen to look for rival gang members.

Three other juveniles have been arrested in connection with the attack. One of them faces a firearms charge. Two others have not been charged.

According to law enforcement officials, nearly 10 people took part in the attack on the couple.
