St. Cloud grocer Coborn's buys Simon Delivers

(AP) - St. Cloud-based grocer Coborn's Inc. says it has acquired SimonDelivers.com, the online grocer that shut down earlier this summer.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Simon Delivers announced in June that it was shutting down due to a spike in food and fuel prices. The nine-year-old company from New Hope was known for delivering its green plastic bins of food door-to-door with bright yellow delivery trucks.

Coborn's says in a news release that beginning in October, SimonDelivers will operate as CoburnsDelivers.com.

The new owner says Simon Delivers customer accounts will be reactivated and old customers will be able to pick up where they left off.

Coborn's says it owns and operates 34 grocery stores throughout the Midwest and offers home delivery in seven of those locations.
