Officials planning the Republican National Convention in St. Paul are poised to make late changes to the schedule as Hurricane Gustav bears down on the Gulf Coast.

The evening portion of today's program has already been cancelled. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were slated to speak to convention-goers at Xcel Energy Center tonight. But with Gustav expected to making landfall today, only essential convention business will be conducted.

Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer talked with Joanna Burgos, press secretary with the Republican National Convention.
