Fridley man charged with breaking bank window during RNC protests

A 23-year-old Fridley man has been charged with criminal damage to property after he allegedly broke a large window in the First National Bank building in St. Paul during the Republican National Convention.

Jason Allan Sparks appeared in Ramsey County District Court on Monday. Prosecutors say Sparks was the man in pictures that showed a masked vandal breaking the window during street disturbances September 1. The image was widely publicized.

According to the criminal complaint, Sparks was among a group that left the established route of an anti-war march.

The complaint says fixing the window at the First National Bank building will cost move than $17,000.
