Lynx guard Augustus taken off court in wheelchair

The Lynx's leading scorer went up for a rebound with 5:15 remaining in the first quarter Tuesday night and fell backward after colliding with an opponent in the air.

Augustus immediately grabbed the back of her neck and winced in pain while being attended to by Minnesota's training staff. She remained on her back for more than five minutes before sitting up to have the neck brace applied. Augustus was moving her legs while on the floor.

Augustus, who played for Team USA in Beijing, has been one of the few bright spots for the Lynx the last three seasons, ranking second in league scoring each of the last two seasons. She was ranked third as of Tuesday, averaging 19.6 points per game.
