Economic lookouts provide perspective on jobless numbers

Bad news about the economy has been plentiful these past few days. The government moved Sunday to take over giant mortgage companies Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Job numbers, released late last week, show unemployment in the country hit a five-year high in August, coming in at 6.1%

Here at Minnesota Public Radio, we've selected a number of people around the state to be our economic "lookouts" to give us a first-hand perspective on the economic developments where they live and work. Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer talked with two of them, Jesse Dahl and Ralph Awad.
