Tonight, while many people will be listening for the early election returns, thousands of fans will be listening to Bob Dylan playing at Northrop Auditorium.

Cultural critic Greil Marcus, who has written extensively about Dylan and his work, says he believes the scheduling of the concert is no accident. The Dylan concert sold out in two hours.

Marcus is teaching at the University of Minnesota this fall. He spoke to MPR recently about Dylan's decision to perform on a college campus on election night.
