The Minnesota Orchestra will combine forces with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra for four concerts in celebration of Igor Stravinsky.

The collaboration is part of the Minnesota Orchestra's 2009-2010 season which was announced Friday.

Orchestra Vice President and General Manager Bob Neu said the orchestras will perform under the batons of Osmo Vanska and SPCO artistic partner Roberto Abbado.

"Each program will feature a work or two by each orchestra alone and then the grand finale is the two orchestras doing 'The Rite of Spring,'"Neu said.

The Minnesota Orchestra will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of its artistic staff members, Conductor Laureate Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, with the world premier of a new work he has written.

The season will also feature the Orchestra playing live with a specially adapted print of the Wizard of Oz. There will also be a Midwestern tour and several new recording projects.
