Minn. man charged in ramming of abortion clinic

A Cottage Grove man has been charged with two felony counts of criminal damage to property for allegedly ramming his sport utility vehicle into the front door of an abortion clinic in St. Paul.

The incident happened Thursday, the anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. Authorities charged 32-year-old Matthew Lee Derosia on Friday.

According to the criminal complaint, Derosia told police he planned to drive the SUV through the doors of Planned Parenthood because the Lord told him to. Police said they found Derosia outside the clinic, holding a crucifix, reciting bible verses, and shouting "Close down the Auschwitz death camp."

Planned Parenthood officials estimate the damages at between $2,500 and $5,000.

Derosia was in custody Friday and could not be reached for comment.
