3rd salmonella death in Minnesota identified

(AP) - The third Minnesotan to die in the nationwide salmonella outbreak was a resident of a Brainerd assisted living facility, as were the other two.

Minneapolis attorney Fred Pritzker says he's representing the family of Doris Flatgard, 87, who died Jan. 4 in a Brainerd hospital after eating tainted peanut butter products.

She's the last of the three known Minnesota victims to be publicly identified.

The state Health Department reported the third death on Saturday, but only said it was a woman in her 80s who lived at a long-term care facility.

Pritzker says Flatgard had been a resident at Good Samaritan's Oakwood House in Brainerd. He says he'll soon file a wrongful death lawsuit on her family's behalf.

On Tuesday, Pritzker sued the operators of a Georgia peanut butter plant and an Ohio distributor saying their negligence caused the death of another Minnesota woman.
