Farmer's home an island next to the flooding Red River

The driveway is underwater
Noreen Thomas's farm sits right on the banks of the Red River, 15 miles north of Moorhead. Right now the farm is an island, protected by an earthen dike. This is a photo of what would be her driveway.

The 1,200 acre farm of Noreen Thomas is 15 miles north of Moorhead, and is now an island surrounded by water.

She and her husband have an earthen dike and sandbags protecting their house and barn, but their fields and a nearby road are all underwater.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Thomas about their situation.
