Minn. House looks at $200M public-works bill

The Minnesota House is looking for about $200 million worth of construction projects to start quickly and put people to work.

House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher says the Capital Investment Finance Division will decide which projects make it into its public-works package this week.

She says the committee will pick the projects.

Democrats who control the Legislature are pushing to borrow money through state bonds. The funds would be used to create construction jobs and take advantage of recession-level prices on materials and labor.

But the House and Senate disagree on how much to borrow. The Senate approved a $329 million bonding bill earlier this month.
