More delay sought in Texas case naming Coleman donor
(AP) - More delays could be ahead for a Texas lawsuit alleging that a friend and donor of Republican Norm Coleman tried to improperly steer money to the then-U.S. senator.
Newly posted documents on a government Web site show the sides in the case are jointly asking a judge in Houston to tack 30 more days onto a Feb. 3 order suspending the case for two months.
The former head of Deep Marine Technology Inc. alleges wrongdoing by investor Nasser Kazeminy.
The former executive accuses Kazeminy of trying to funnel $75,000 to Coleman through a Minneapolis-based insurance firm where the former senator's wife works.
Kazeminy and Coleman both deny the allegations. Coleman is not a party to the lawsuit.
