Each week Minnesota Public Radio News asks three people from the Minnesota arts scene to be "Art Hounds." Their job is to step outside our own work and hunt down something exciting that's going on this weekend.
Alyssa Kleven is general manager of Afternoon Records in Minneapolis. Alyssa plans to drive to Eau Claire, Wis., to see Bon Iver, aka Justin Vernon, return to his high school to play with the Memorial High School Jazz Ensemble.
The concert, featuring all Duke Ellington music, is a benefit to raise money for the Ensemble's upcoming trip to Lincoln Center in New York.
Jane Minton is executive director of IFP Minnesota, a center for media arts in St. Paul. Jane has attended the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival nearly every year of its 27-year history.
She's particularly excited to see "The Unconvention" and "Four Boxes", two of the Minnesota films being screened.
Robert Hammell is co-founder of Perimeter Productions in Minneapolis, and an actor. Hammell is a longtime fan of Bedlam Theatre, where they are premiering "Dali/DADA" April 17 through May 2.
Dali/DADA includes two, one-act plays. "Dali's Liquid Ladies" is a portrait of artist Salvador Dali, and "Come to Dada" is an amalgamation of dreams collected on the Bedlam dream blog.
