You might have fond memories of being in a school play when you were young. Those memories can seem idyllic. But in reality, that experience is more high stakes than you might remember. It is fraught with tension, conflict, and, well, drama.

Rick Velleu is one of the filmmakers behind the award-winning documentary, "School Play". The film chronicles a production of the Wizard of Oz in one Westchester County, New York grade school.

Velleu is a St. Paul native, back in town this week to show his documentary for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival. He joined Tom Crann in the studio to talk about the film as well as his experience being one of the creators behind the Nickelodeon hit kids show, Dora the Explorer.
