Sara Watkins knows a little something about the music scene. Along with her brother Sean and their friend Chris Thile, they formed the popular Grammy Award-winning trio Nickel Creek. But she was only 8 years old when it started, and she's in her mid-20s now.

Nickel Creek is on an "indefinite hiatus" currently, so Sara has recorded her first, self-titled solo release on Nonesuch Records. The record was produced by former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.

Minnesota was the first stop on a tour for Sara Watkins in support of the CD.

She and her older brother Sean stopped in the Minnesota Public Radio studios to play some songs and chat with Radio Heartland's Dale Connelly.

Songs performed: "All This Time," "Too Much," "Long Hot Summer Days."
