Minneapolis and University of Minnesota Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up a big party that turned violent in the Dinkytown neighborhood near the university.
It started around 8 p.m. Saturday and didn't end until early Sunday morning on 7th St. and 14th Ave. in Minneapolis.
Partygoers reportedly threw rocks and bottles at the first group of officers who came to break up the party. The police called in backup to disperse the crowd of about 500 people. At least six people were arrested, but there were no serious injuries reported.
TV station KARE 11 reported that students damaged property in the area by jumping on cars, trying to tip over vehicles and starting a large fire in the street.
Sixty officers were called in to break up the disturbance.
