Each week Minnesota Public Radio News asks three people from the Minnesota arts scene to be "Art Hounds." Their job is to step outside their own work and hunt down something exciting that's going on this weekend.
Dana Munson is director of marketing for the Jungle Theater. Dana calls The Guthrie Theater's "Caroline, or Change" the best musical he's ever seen and the greatest gathering of local talent on a Twin Cities stage in years. The production runs through June 21.
Rie Gilsdorf is the pre-kindergarten through 12th grade arts department chair at the Blake School in Minneapolis, Hopkins and Wayzata. Rie is trumpeting an upcoming African "Fakoly" drumming and dance event at the Sabathani Center in Minneapolis on May 2, at 7 p.m. It will feature master drummers and dancers from Guinea, West Africa.
Ann Klefstad is a sculptor and freelance art and music writer in Duluth. Ann says one of the musical highlights of the year is the Duluth Homegrown Festival, which runs through Sunday, May 3. The festival features over 150 acts this year and is a sprawling showcase of Duluth's vibrant, diverse music scene.
