Minn. BCA investigates fatal shooting in Cook County

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a fatal shooting by law officers in Cook County on Tuesday.

38-year-old Quincy Adam Peterson was reported dead at the scene after a stand off with law officers near Grand Marais. Officers involved in the shooting were placed on standard administrative leave, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Peterson was shot and killed by either a Cook County Sheriff's Deputy or a State Patrol officer following a short pursuit. Police had been on the lookout for Peterson, who was a suspect in a Twin Cities robbery last weekend, and of firing on a Maplewood Police officer.

He was spotted Tuesday on County Road 60 near Grand Marais. The bureau has not said which officer fired the fatal shot.
