Fire destroys waste building in southern Minnesota

Crews at back at the scene of a fire in a waste management building in southern Minnesota.

Clarks Grove Fire Chief Carl Anderson says the fire broke out around 8 p.m. Tuesday in a transfer station, where garbage is brought in. Fire crews had left around 1 a.m. Wednesday but were back putting out hot spots later that morning.

Anderson says fire crews from eight departments battled the fire. He says the building is a total loss. No one was hurt.

The state fire marshal's office will help investigate the cause of the fire.
