NE Minn. bus driver charged in fatal accident

The school bus driver who struck and killed a 6-year-old boy in northeastern Minnesota last April is now charged with misdemeanor careless driving in the accident.

Fifty-seven-year-old Anita Diane Olson Ketola of Grand Rapids was driving the bus that struck Dominick Lee Strey after the boy got off the bus in Calumet.

Olson Ketola told investigators she realized she didn't see the boy with two other children who had gotten off the bus, but she checked a mirror and did not see him in front of the bus. She said she assumed the boy had gotten into a parked car.

Olson Ketola was a driver for the Greenway School District at the time. She's due in court June 23.
