Minnesota anti-war group marks 10th anniversary
A Twin Cities anti-war group will mark its 10th year of peace walks this afternoon by holding its weekly vigil on a bridge between Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Women Against Military Madness started in the spring of 1999 in response to the U.S. bombing of Yugoslavia.
Over the years, the vigil has also raised concerns about U.S. policy against Iran, North Korea and Syria, as well as issues of torture, civil liberties and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The anniversary vigil will start at 5 p.m. on Lake Street/Marshall Avenue bridge and will be followed by a potluck dinner at St. Albert the Great Church, 2836 33rd Ave. South, in Minneapolis.
