East Grand Forks mom pleads guilty to attempting to kill girls

A former East Grand Forks mother who police say tried to poison her daughters and herself with vehicle exhaust has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

Polk County prosecutors say 31-year-old Breezetta Etienne pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of second-degree attempted murder.

Etienne, who now lives in Fargo, N.D., will be sentenced Aug. 17.

East Grand Forks police say they found Etienne and her two daughters inside a running sport utility vehicle in their garage last June. The three were conscious when officers arrived, and the children were treated at a hospital.
