Crosstown road closures planned throughout the week

Drivers in the Metro area will likely face detours and increased congestion this week as crews continue to work on portions of I-35W and Hwy. 62.

Crews will be working intermittently on both the southbound and northbound lanes of I-35W as well as the westbound lanes of Hwy 62, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The work will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will continue through July 3, officials said.

The closures are part of the I-35W/Highway 62 Crosstown reconstruction project. Crews will be placing bridge beam segments during those hours.

Access to local streets along I-35W, north and south of Highway 62, will remain open. Eastbound Hwy 62 also will remain open during the roadwork.

Southbound I-35W and westbound Hwy 62 will not be closed at the same time, officials said. Officials recommend motorists slow down in work zones and avoid entering roadways have been blocked with barriers or cones. Drivers should follow the posted detours during the closures.
