Eagan woman named Miss Minnesota

A 20-year old woman from Eagan will represent Minnesota at the Miss America pageant early next year.

Brooke Kilgarriff, who was competing as Miss Twin Cities, was named Miss Minnesota 2009 on Saturday night.

"Can someone pinch me please," Kilgarriff wrote on her official Miss Twin Cities blog. "I still cannot believe that last night I was crowned Miss Minnesota 2009! The past seven months have been such an incredible journey as Miss Twin Cities, and I am looking forward to new adventures as Miss Minnesota."

Kilgarriff was the winner in the overall interview and overall talent categories. She's a student at The Boston Conservatory, where she's majoring in musical theater. She hopes to pursue a career as a singer and actress.

In all, 17 contestants from around Minnesota competed for the title.

Other winners included:

First runner up: Sara Larson; Second runner up: Natalie Davis; Third runner up: Sarah Anderson; Fourth runner up: Kathryn Knuttila.

The Miss America pageant will be held on Sat., Jan. 30, 2010 in Las Vegas.
