Art Hounds: Tennessee Williams, Nora Labiner, Shakespeare in Winona

Each week Minnesota Public Radio News asks three people from the Minnesota arts scene to be "Art Hounds." Their job is to step outside their own work and hunt down something exciting that's going on in local arts.

This Week:

Andrea Heilman is a freelance scenic and lighting designer in the Twin Cities. Andrea was quite taken with Gremlin Theatre's production of "The Enemy: Time". It's the world premiere of a play by Tennessee Williams which has never been performed until now. It's on stage at Gremlin's new St. Paul theater through June 28.

Melissa Slachetka is a Twin Cities-based freelance journalist and book reviewer. Melissa picked up Nora Labiner's new novel "German Lessons: A Novel in 95 Lessons" and read it almost in one sitting. She strongly recommends catching Nora read from her book on June 30, at at the Ridgedale Library in Minnetonka 7:00 p.m.

Kathy Peterson is the arts administrator at Winona State University and is also the chair of Theatre Du Mississippi, which is a small arts group in Winona. Cathy loves the Great River Shakespeare Festival, which happens in Winona every summer. For five weeks, the city turns itself over to Shakespeare. Professional Shakespeare actors from all over the country come to perform. The Great River Shakespeare Festival is on the campus of Winona State from June 27 through July 27.
