Man charged with 1st-degree assault in gang-related stabbing

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office charged a St. Paul man with first-degree assault today in connection with Monday's stabbing of a 15-year-old boy near Arlington High School.

The criminal complaint alleges that Israel Flores, 19, repeatedly stabbed the 15-year-old boy with a knife before he fled in his car with another man.

The alleged victim, who is not an Arlington High School student, was taken to Regions Hospital and treated for stab wounds.

The boy told police that his attacker is a rival gang member, the complaint says. Police investigators described Flores as a "confirmed" member of the Sureno 13 gang. Flores was also charged with committing a crime for the benefit of a gang.
