Few firework-related injuries reported over weekend

Officials throughout the state said they saw few injuries due to fireworks over the holiday weekend.

Region's Hospital in St. Paul saw one patient for a fireworks-related injury, while Hennepin County Medical Center reported none.

Police departments in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth did not receive any reports of injuries directly related to fireworks.

In a separate incident in St. Paul, a man shot a 14-year-old boy, allegedly because he was upset about fireworks going off in his neighborhood.

The state does not collect specific information on fireworks injuries over the holiday weekend. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety issues a yearly report to track annual trends.
