Minnesota offers flood relief to veterans

Military veterans hit by flooding in the Red River Valley and elsewhere can get up to $600 from the state - if they apply soon.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is offering flood relief assistance until the end of the month, but the program will end if the money runs out before that.

County Veterans Service Officers are taking applications to reimburse flood costs for receipts dated between March 20 and June 30.

The aid is available to veterans and their families living in 28 flood-affected counties.

Single veterans can get up to $300. Married veterans and those with children are eligible for up to $600. Surviving spouses are also eligible for the aid.
