Woman to face charges after backing van into tent, killing infant
A woman who backed a van into a tent Sunday, killing a four-month-old, will be charged today with three felony counts, officials with the Renville County Sheriff's Office said.
The 31-year-old driver will face charges for criminal vehicular homicide, third degree driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended Minnesota license, according to Renville County Jail officials.
The Wyatt Sander died after he and his mother, 21-year-old Sheena Hinshaw were run over by the van, authorities said. The mother and baby were dragged under the vehicle. The boy's father, 27-year-old Jacob Sander, was also in the tent but was not injured.
The Sheriff's office said it received a call at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday from Beaver Falls, a county park located a few miles northeast of Redwood Falls.
Wyatt Sander was taken to Redwood Falls Area Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hinshaw was in stable condition.
The driver remains at the Renville County jail pending formal charges.
